The Measure of Rice, Ellen C Babbitt
There was a dishonest king and an honest person who decided the prices of things
The king knew he could make more money with someone dishonest
so he fired the valuer and hired a peasant
The king was able to buy a bunch of horses for the value of rice
The horse-seller went to see the old valuer and asked what to do
The old valuer told him to bribe the new valuer
so he does just that
The valuer says his measure of rice is worth the kings whole city
both the valuer and the king are embarrassed
horses
